The Offspring @ Blossom Music Center (8/13/25)
The Offspring stopped in Cuyahoga Valley last night at Blossom Music Center. They are currently on their Supercharged Worldwide in ’25 Tour, with support from New Found Glory and Jimmy Eat World. The Offspring have released music since 1989, and have become a staple of nostalgia for Gen X and Millennials. Their songs have flooded the radio for decades, and to this day you'd be hard-pressed to listen to an alternative radio station for a day without hearing one of their songs. One such hit, "Come Out and Play", started what would be a fun throwback night.
About midway through, the band played a few covers during their set. They kicked things off with a quick nod to Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid,” followed by a tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne with “Crazy Train.” They also played “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg, a song they included on their 2021 album Let the Bad Times Roll; before finishing off the segment with The Ramones’ classic “I Wanna Be Sedated.”
After a quick drum solo from the incredible Brandon Pertzborn, a more emotional moment came when frontman Dexter Holland sat down at the piano for a stripped-down version of “Gone Away.” Holland spoke about loss and how music has helped him through it. He asked that anyone in the audience that had experienced loss light up their phone, and soon the dark amphitheater was filled with sparkling lights swaying side to side, as Dexter gave us his heart.
The night concluded with fan favorites “Why Don’t You Get a Job?,” “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy),” “The Kids Aren’t Alright,” “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid,” and “Self Esteem.” I stayed the entire show, and was happy to hear these hits that I've listened to almost my entire life, in person for the first time.
